You’ll see a clean white page with a brightly colored logo in the center, with a simple search box underneath.

The human eye likes to start at the top of a page when viewing a computer or piece of media, like a book or piece of art.

What catches your attention first is Google’s logo, and the logo isn’t anywhere near that top corner.

Whitespace is the magic that brought your eye down to the Google logo. Without any business around the page and only white, our¬†eyes center on what’s most important: the logo and the search box.

When designing your website, consider placing your logo and navigation near the center and pad it with whitespace.

Organization Is Key

Built By Buffalo implements whitespace well without sticking to an overly-minimalist design. Navigation spots are divided by cool honeycomb-style hexagons in different colors with clear labels.
